Optimum 4-Point

With the introduction of the new Induro platform locks in 2022 and 2023, we continue to phase out the Optimum range of products. As a result, the Optimum 4-point lock will soon no longer be available for sale.

The final day to place orders for Optimum 4-point locks will be the 24th April. Wherever possible, orders received after this date will be automatically updated to the Induro equivalent. If no equivalent exists, our customer service teams will make contact to discuss what options we have available.

The Optimum Roller Latch and Optimum 1-point locks will remain available for purchase.

We will continue to support the entire range of Optimum locks for any warranty issues.

Yale 4109A Digital Mortice Lock

ASSA ABLOY wishes to advise of the retirement of the Yale 4109A Digital Door Lock.

The remaining stock of Yale 4109A is now on run-out, and we expect this product to be obsolete by June 2023.

In its place, ASSA ABLOY is excited to announce the release of the new  7220 Digital Door Lock. The 7220 features a modern design, comes in a black finish, and has the added convenience of Smart Home capabilities via the Yale Access App.

Conveniently access your door with PIN code, fingerprint verification, key tag, or your smartphone when you upgrade with the Yale Access Kit. Alongside the low battery alarm, the 7220 features a tamper alarm to alert owners if anyone attempts to damage the lock or force the door open.  The Yale 7220 digital door lock setup follows a similar installation process as our Yale 3109A & 4109A digital door locks.

Optimum 2-Point Lock

ASSA ABLOY New Zealand wishes to advise that the Yale Optimum 2-Point Lock will be discontinued from 1 September 2022. From this date ASSA ABLOY New Zealand will only offer the Yale Induro 2-Point Lock to all customers.

The last day to place orders for the Optimum 2-Point Lock will be 31 August 2022. The Optimum 2-Point Lock will be provided for any orders placed before 1 September 2022.

Lockwood ES8100 V-Lock

ASSA ABLOY is excited to announce the release of the Lockwood ES8100 V-Lock.

Designed and assembled in Australia, the ES8100 incorporates many improvements over its Lockwood/Trimec predecessor, the ES8000, including a higher pre-load rating of 100kg, Door Position Monitoring, integrated LED lock status and diagnostics visual indication, increased door misalignment from 7mm to 12mm, an IP53 rating for external door applications and simple, one-step, PTO/PTL onsite configuration.

Although completely redesigned internally, the new ES8100 V-Lock body and faceplate retains the original footprint and is a direct retrofit to the original ES8000 model. The ES8100 strike plate utilises the same fixing locations but is 3mm wider to increase misalignment distance.

    SUPER CAPACITOR TESTING

    The ES8100 utilises a super capacitor for Fail Safe/PTL operation in the event of a total power failure.  The system has been designed with a large factor of safety but health of the super capacitor is still monitored to ensure correct Fail Safe/PtL opening in a total power failure.  The test is completed at start up and at least weekly there-after.  In the unlikely event of a failure, a warning will continually be given to the user allowing operation to continue until a critical storage level is reached, where the lock will fail to an unlocked state.  The super capacitor is not used in PtO operation.

ASSA ABLOY is excited to announce the release of our latest Yale digital door lock, available now. The Yale 7220 digital door lock combines high security with cutting edge technology, and offers the additional convenience of Smart Home capabilities via the Yale Access App.

    Conveniently access your door with PIN code, fingerprint verification, key tag, or your smartphone when you upgrade with the Yale Access Kit. The 7220 additionally provides a mechanical key override to cover any situation.

    Alongside the low battery alarm, the 7220 features a tamper alarm to alert owners if anyone attempts to damage the lock or force the door open.  

    Other security features include a scramble code, and 4 digit one-time user code for guests.

Flush Pull Range Extension

Abloy CY516 Cylinder

ASSA ABLOY is pleased to advise the launch of a new cylinder variant, the ABLOY CY516 PD Key in Knob/Lever Cylinder.

Available in ABLOY PROTEC2, the cylinder is designed to accommodate the many different cams available in the New Zealand market. It comes with a screw on cap and spring-loaded retainer pin similar to those seen on the Lockwood 8221 PD cylinder. To accommodate the ABLOY rotating disc mechanism the cylinder's face has been brought forward, meaning it will protrude from the face of most lock assemblies.

The addition of the new CY516 cylinder will further broaden the flexibility and scope of ABLOY keying platforms.

The Yale Unity Entrance Lock Fire Rated has been successfully tested for 2 hours on fire door assemblies in accordance with Australian Standard AS1905.1-2015 Fire Resistant Door Sets.

Meeting Australian lock standards AS4145.2:2008, SL8 and D8, you can be sure that the Unity Entrance Lock meets your security needs.

In order to comply with egress requirements in common multi-residential applications, the Yale Unity Entrance Lock Fire Rated version has removed the Digital Deadlocking (Secure Mode) feature.

Induro 2 Point Mortice Lock

ASSA ABLOY is pleased to release a new and improved 2-Point Lock. The Induro 2-Point is a culmination of extensive research, prototyping and stringent testing. The new 2-Point Lock offers an improved locking system with adjustable deadbolt projection. When deadlocked, the Induro 2-Point mortice lock provides increased security with two points of locking.


The Induro 2-Point lock is a direct retrofit for Millton, Optimum and LCL locks and is designed to be used in conjunction with the Aria, Palladium, Verona, and Apex furniture ranges.

    Features two points of locking from the latch and deadbolt. The latch has adjustable projection and unlike the Optimum or our other legacy locks, the deadbolt projection on the Induro can be easily changed to either a 13mm short throw or 24mm long throw with a turn of a screwdriver.
    With a redesigned locking mechanism the Induro is solid and robust, providing reliability and strength for larger doors. The handing of the lockset can easily be adjusted by reversing the orientation of the latch bolt.
    The Induro 2-Point lockset is New Zealand made with a stainless steel forend plate, and accepts Euro style cylinders. The Induro 2-Point lock achieves the Australian Standards - AS4145: 2008 Security Level S7 and Durability Level D7.

Potential Freight Delays

 

Dear Customer,

We would like to keep you informed of potential freight delays on Purchase to Stock (PTS) and Purchase to Order (PTO) products that come via Australia.

Our 3rd party freight provider is seeing an increasing number of vessels losing days on their original ETA due to ongoing industrial action at Australian ports. They expect this situation to be ongoing for some time. They will monitor the potential for congestion to build as we move towards Auckland Anniversary Day weekend (27 – 29 January) and Waitangi Day holiday on the 6th of February, which will create two short working weeks to manage the flow of containers through the Port and across the supply chain.

Whilst we will do all we can to deliver within normal expectations, delays should be expected.

Once users have downloaded the Yale Home app – they can use their existing (Yale Access APP) login details to access the new apps functionality. There is no need for our customers to set up new accounts or all their smart security products - once they are logged in, they should be good to go! 

For people who buy a new Yale product, they will need to download the Yale Home APP instead and create a new account.

  • General Steps to change to the new Yale Home APP

    1. Download the Yale Home APP from the Google and Apple Store. This is the icon you will see in the App Store.

    2. Log into the Yale Home APP using your existing Yale Access login details. There is no need to change your account or set up a new one; all your devices will be brought over to the new Yale Home APP.

    3. Once logged in, it is important that all users connected to your Yale lock download and switch to the Yale Home APP at the same time to avoid access issues.

    4. If you have 3rd party integrations setup, e.g., Google Home, you will need to reconnect these through the Yale Home APP. For guidance on each integration setup, visit the support section atyalehome.om/nz

  • Yale Access App retirement plan - obsolete 1 July 2023

    • Today, 17 May 2023, the Yale Access app has been removed from app stores
    • The existing app will still be functional until 30 June 2023
    • On 1 July 2023, the Yale Access app will no longer be accessible or function in New Zealand

  • Yale Access asset updates on your websites

    All web assets that mention the Yale Access APP will need to be updated to our new assets for the Yale Home APP. You can find a selection of available assets here.

  • For customers receiving existing inventory

    There are no requirements to re-work/update existing inventory in any warehouses as the packaging is on a running change.

    For any products a customer buys that still have the old Yale Access packaging, the Yale Access APP store links will automatically change to the Yale Home APP.

  • For customer displays

    Your ASSA ABLOY representative will be in touch to discuss updating in-store/showroom displays to showcase the Yale Home APP change.

  • Communication support material

    A communication letter with a step-by-step breakdown of how to transfer from the Yale Access APP to the Yale Home APP is attached as a reference and to share with customers.

    You can use the communication letter to post as a notice for your customers and staff.

Back Orders Update

 

We wish to provide an update on the current back-order status.

Unfortunately, despite our continued efforts, we’ve been unable to make the significant improvements in this area that we had hoped; due to ongoing labour shortages and supply chain issues with selected products and components. 

Increasing production capacity is our key focus; we’re actively recruiting new full-time staff, we’ve implemented offsite manufacturing, and we have increased resources in our supply chain team.

The floods in the Auckland region have compounded an already difficult situation. Our North Shore manufacturing facility was impacted, and we had to stop manufacturing for a period over the long weekend.

We’ve already been notified by several Auckland customers who have asked us to defer delivery until their operation is back in working order. If you were affected by the torrential weather and would like orders deferred, please let us know ASAP.

Back Order Update

 

We would like to advise an update on the current back order status.

Although we have measures in place to reduce disruption, it is currently difficult to estimate our recovery plan timeline due to continued logistical interruptions and temporary staff shortages in Auckland.

If you have a stocked item that is on back order, please contact our customer services team so that they can provide you with an updated ETA or, if appropriate, suggest an alternative product.

We also recommend placing your purchase orders as early as possible to avoid delays, which could last up to several weeks for some product lines.

Elevation Supply Issues

 

ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions New Zealand is currently experiencing supply issues with the overseas supplier of PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) for the Elevation Awning Actuator.

We are working urgently to resolve these issues and will provide a further update as soon as possible, however we unfortunately do not expect to be able to supply outstanding orders until late October 2022.

Price Increase Effective 1 October 2022 


ASSA ABLOY is committed to driving continuous productivity improvements, and as always, we endeavour to internally minimise the impact of cost increases wherever possible. However, with current market inflation and the increasing cost of labour, freight, power, fuel, and imported products, we are unfortunately unable to continue to absorb these costs any further. 

As a result, we wish to formally advise that effective 1 October 2022, ASSA ABLOY NZ will increase the List Price on the majority of products by 6%. 

This increase will apply to both List and Bulk/Contract prices.

Update on Courier and Freight Delays

With the rapid increase in community cases of Omicron, our freight and courier providers are experiencing significant disruptions to their operations.

For the Auckland region we have switched providers to try and maintain delivery expectations. Deliveries outside of Auckland are expected to be an additional 1-2 working days transit.

Whilst we will do all we can to deliver within normal expectations, delays should be expected.

Omni Ticketing System - Stage 2

 

We are pleased to advise that the second stage of our Omni platform is now in effect. And it is the next step in our journey to elevate our customer experience and satisfaction.

Our email ticketing process allows us to convert a large number of emails into a visible queued ticketing system. This makes tracking and managing customer matters and requests easier and more efficient.

When you contact nzsales@assaabloy.com, the Omni ticketing system will generate a service ticket number, which you can reply to and use to track modifications, follow-ups, and other correspondence. It will also notify you when your ticket has been closed, providing you with visibility that your request has been fulfilled.

  • Working together to reduce backorders

    Getting products made and out the door has been our primary focus over the past few months, however we have struggled to make significant inroads to our backorders. Recruitment to fill the 25 open roles in the factory has been very challenging. We've implemented many initiatives to increase staff numbers and reduce our backorders to get back to some form of normality.

    • We're working with multiple temping agencies. We've contracted a specialist recruitment company to work from our business to focus on factory roles
    • We've brought on a Supply Chain Manager to accurately manage demand planning to improve our inventory planning, forecasting, and ordering performance
    • We've been upskilling our line leaders to manage people and increase product throughput
    • We've restructured the process engineering team to improve production flow through the factory
    • We've implemented offsite manufacturing

    Over the last few weeks, we have further increased the rates we are offering staff and are optimistic that this will prove the difference in attracting new employees – early signs are promising.  However, to make some immediate improvements to our backorder situation, we have taken an "all hands on deck" approach. We've currently got up to 12 ordinarily office-based staff working in our factory and warehouse, from sales, product development, specification, and marketing. We're even flying in team members from across New Zealand to assemble and pack products to support our effort to fulfil customer orders.

    Early signs are positive, as we're starting to see a reduction in back orders. We expect to see significant improvements by the end of March.

  • Customer Support

    Providing a meaningful customer experience is valuable to us. A big part of that experience happens in how we communicate with you. Right now, the level of enquiry our Customer Services team manages is overwhelming. Although we've put mechanisms in place to streamline tickets and increase frontline support, we're beyond our daily capacity.

    If you have raised an urgent ticket and need immediate action, please reach out to your rep with your ticket number, and they will escalate it for you.

    We've created a 'Customer enquiry escalation chart' to help quickly identify where to get important information. It covers the tasks our support team looks after and at what delegation level.

    Please use it as a helpful reference point when talking to your rep.

  • What's a 4-Point Lock?

    Surprisingly, this is a question only one in ten kiwis* can answer. And yet, 4-Point locks would be in up to 50% of NZ homes built in the past decade.

    The new technical specification of SNZ TS 4211:2022 reflects 15 year's-worth of advancement of windows and doors and the benefit they have across the array of building typologies in Aotearoa. Performance factors have been considered that are often invisible to consumers when built to standard including air permeability, water penetration, strength, rigidity, and operability.

    In modern homes, doors are getting bigger and heavier, making them more susceptible to increased wind loading and water penetration. Many larger doors are simply not rigid enough to pass the testing with only a 2-Point lock sealing the door a metre off the ground. The top and bottom corners will flex under loading and allow wind and water to enter the home past the seals. Having a 4-Point lock installed creates a better seal across these areas of the door - giving a much higher sealing performance.

    We're running a media campaign, "Lift, Lock & Leave", to raise awareness of the benefits of 4-Point locks. The campaign will run for three months across social media, display ads, YouTube, and TVNZ.

  • Customer SatisfactionSurvey

    We conduct a short online ‘customer satisfaction survey’ twice a year to gain insight into what we're doing well and what we can improve. The survey aids us in our ongoing drive to develop and improve our customer experience.
